This will allow you to travel a large part of the Alsace wine route by bike very peacefully. From Strasbourg to Colmar, typical villages and quiet paths through the vineyards will make you discover and appreciate, in addition to good food and good wines, an exceptional nature where tradition and history have endured.
First of all, Strasbourg. Take advantage of your visit of this historic city to stroll along its many canals, especially in the must-see district of “Petite France” or the cathedral or even on the outskirts of the European Parliament. Then leave the european capitale and cycle along the Bruche canal to reach the wine route around Obernai, a superb traditional village with half-timbered houses, colorful facades and flowered balconies. Let yourself be guided on this bicycle route through this vineyard, nestled at the foot of the Vosges mountains and punctuated by multiple villages, each as charming as the next. A real invitation to taste the characteristic white wines of Alsace, in a bar or a wine-growing estate, and local gastronomy made up of good dishes (!) And pastries that will deligh you.
Your bike ride will take you to Mittelbergheim, Ribeauvillé, and Riquewihr, among others, which are among the most beautiful villages in France, to reach Colmar, city of Art and capital of Alsace wines. Do not miss the picturesque district of “Little Venice”. Finally, you will end your cycling holiday in Strasbourg with a last step, partly by the regional train and partly by bicycle.
